Earlier this year, we asked LGBTIQA+ workers across the country what challenges they faced at work as an LGBTIQA+ person.
Overwhelmingly, LGBTIQA+ workers have told us that they face a very real barrier to accessing leave entitlements that are inclusive of them and their lives.
Together with the union movement, We Are Union Pride is developing three model enterprise bargaining leave clauses to be included in our Union Pride resource. These model clauses will be used by union organisers, delegates and members to improve the rights and safety of our LGBTIQA+ comrades.
Join us on Thursday 11th October for a special union-led evaluation workshop of our three draft model clauses:
1) Parental Leave
2) Carer's Leave
3) Transition Leave
As organisers, industrial officers and experts yourselves, you're the best-placed people to give feedback on how we can write these clauses to ensure that they're inclusive of every worker, in line with current legislation, and accessible.
This is your opportunity to collectively write inclusive and accessible leave clauses that will improve the lives of all LGBTIQA+ workers.
Accessibility: Trades Hall is an old building but we will do all we can to make the event accessible for people who face mobility challenges. Many of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. If given enough notice, we will make adjustments as best we can for other access requirements.
